About Yaya's

10 years ago while in the darkest part of my life, my best friend's 8 month old started to call me "Yaya". This baby girl truly saved my life, and the nickname Yaya has stuck ever since.

The name Yaya has many different meanings depending on the culture, in ancient Greek, "Yaya" meant literally "woman." In Brazil and the Congo, the word "Yaya" refers to a woman who has gone through a religious initiation. It means "Mother" or "Mama Priestess."

In both cultural traditions, the word "Yaya" represents the highest form of woman, achieved only through initiation, experience and longevity. It represents, literally, the Journey to Womanhood.

This has been my journey to a higher path for over 20 years, being both a Conjurer and a Holy Fire III Reiki Master Teacher, as well adapting other forms of folk magick and Reiki into my practice, my journey to womanhood and who I am today.

I chose the name "Yaya's Whispers" for the business name due to something my mom pointed out to me, "Candle scents whisper memories of a different time, and with your spell work, you are whispering your magic into the wind" and that struck me deep. I want to provide you with the tools to be able to take back your own power, heal yourself from your past and present issues but also make your home feel like your own private sanctuary.

You will also notice that the names of the intentions are funny, sarcastic or it swears. There is too much stuffiness in the Pagan community, sometimes we just need to swear out our intentions. Who said magic couldn't swear? ;)
